My journey in photography has been slow but rewarding. From having absolutely no clue and just clicking buttons, today my technical knowledge is robust—while being more aware of what I don’t know—, so it’s mostly the creative aspects that hold me back.

Milestones in my learning

Street in Chicago

This is probably the first image where I had an immediate understanding of the desired composition as I was walking by. It was also the first time that I made explicit choices in the edit based on artistic interpretation and the meaning I wanted to convey.

For example, despite being a clean digital picture in broad daylight, I added some grain because that’s the feeling I wanted to evoke with the image, as the street felt gritty and rough.
